Dr. Subhash Mahila College of Education, Junagadh is a famous institution at Junagadh for Woman which has made great progress in a short period in the field of educating Woman. Shri PethaljibhaiChavda, a leading Educationalist and industrialist of Junagadh, started this institution in the year 1976. The institution has been established in a vast area covering 23 acre of land. Establishment of the institution has been the result of his bold initiative at a cost of about 5 crores spent for acquisition of land and rupees 6 cores spent for construction of various buildings. The donor has the charitable intention to spread an amount of additional 5 cores for further development of the institution.
Dr. Subhash, The eldest son of Shri Pethaljibhai met with his death in an accident in the prime of his youth in the year 1983 and so because of affectionate precision and wishes of all in commemoration of his sacred memory the institution has been designated. 'Dr. Subhash Academy' name of Dr. Subhash has also been associated with various other educational branches of the parent institution.
Various development vocational courses are included in the syllabus of the different branches of the institution aimed at providing the Girls vocationally oriented higher education to enable them to become self-supporting with respect. In this institution, thus, special stress is laid on a scientific approach to education in a way that it may become an effective instrument in bringing about social change too. Development is the maxim adopted by this institution as its motto. For achieving continuous progress the environmental setting of this institution provide grand inspiration. Seminars are held for contemplation on ethical subjects, for providing a platform for the young to deliberate, and for a discussion of matters concerning the environment, plus national social service are implemented and travels, tours, tracking, essay competition, elocution competition are also organized.
